Tridays 2008 Proves a Massive Success
Monday, July 7, 2008

Over 15,000 Triumph aficionados flocked to the Alps last weekend, as the Austrian village of Neukirchen am Grossvenediger reverberated to the sound of triples and twins for the third annual Tridays festival.
Typically for the brand that says ‘Go Your Own Way’, Tridays is not a usual biker gathering. Far from being another clichéd collection of lairy beer tents and outdated rock bands, Tridays prides itself on being a family event with a classy blend of eclectic entertainment and Tyrolean hospitality, mixed in with Triumph’s latest models and held amid a sea of red, white and blue Union Jacks and Triumph flags.
Neukirchen renames itself ‘Newchurch’ and transforms into a very English parish for the three-day festival. Daytime activity included performances from a wide range of musicians, bands and street entertainers, guided tours on some of the fantastic scenic and twisty alpine roads, plus test rides of the latest Triumph models. Triumph’s world champion stunt rider, Kevin Carmichael, was also on hand to wow the crowd with incredible stunt shows on his Street Triple and Speed Triple motorcycles.
Famous Austrian filmwriter and Triumph enthusiast Uli Bree had the original idea for Tridays and contacted Michael Nier, General Manager of Triumph Germany – within a week the plan for the first Tridays was agreed. “The success of Tridays is down to both the concept and the quality of the event,” explains Nier, “It is not your typical motorcycle event, rather it has been designed for the whole family and each year we are seeing a lot more visitors coming with their families. We are also seeing more and more guests coming from around the world, even as far as Australia and New Zealand, and this ties in with our vision of creating a truly international Triumph party, with a target of 30,000 visitors within three years.”
Dates for the 2009 event will be available soon. Visit www.tridays.com for further information.
