Triumph Triple Challenge Goes to Cadwell Park
Wednesday, June 25, 2008

At the last round at Silverstone at the end of May, Jack Sim took a clean sweep of the TDG Cup honours in tricky conditions. The hat-trick of race victories over the course of the weekend moved him into the lead of the class, with his main rival, Mark Cheetham, just five points behind him. Brazilian racer Rhalf Lo Turco lies third in the class. His consistent finishes have kept him in reach of the leading pair but he is yet to bag that elusive first race win, something he will aim to put right at Cadwell.
In the Michelin Young Guns category, Mark Cringle’s lead at the head of the table has been slashed after youngster Josh Wainwright took two race wins at Silverstone. There is now just 24 points in it and a non-finish for Manxman Cringle and another victory for Wainwright would put the pair on level pegging. These two riders have pulled out an advantage on the rest of the field.
Reece Rothwell, Scott Rowbottom and Lance Carey have all taken race wins this season, but Wainwright and Cringle have been the most consistent. However, with just over half of the season remaining, there are still plenty of points up for grabs and there will be some fantastic racing over the course of the weekend for the latest haul.
As well as the on-track action, all of the riders and teams involved in the series will be paying their respects to Latvian rider Aleksandrs Bekers, who was tragically killed while racing in his home country two weeks ago. Everyone involved with the Triumph Triple Challenge will be paying their respects to the talented youngster over the course of the weekend.
