    Fast Company

Pennsylvania native and AMA Pro Flat Track racer Johnny Lewis didn’t plan on getting into flat track racing. But he’s happy he did.

As a kid, Lewis was headed to what he thought was a motocross race, but it turned out to be a TT flat track event. After giving the new racing discipline a try, he was hooked, and the rest is history.

In 2005, Lewis had his debut in AMA Pro Racing, competing in Pro Lite and Pro Unlimited supermoto events. He became the youngest person ever to win in Supermoto’s Unlimited Class and then moved to AMA Pro Flat Track racing. It didn’t take long for Johnny to claim several top five finishes. In fact, in 2012, Lewis competed in only six races but finished in the top five in four of those events, including winning the Expert Singles class at Daytona.

For 2013, Johnny joins Latus Motors Racing’s Grand National class team with former AMA Grand National Champion Joe Kopp as his team manager. Riding a Bonneville Performance-built Triumph, Johnny is more than ready to hit the track.

“This is the opportunity that every racer hopes for,” said Lewis. “The chance to work with Joe Kopp and the level of program that George Latus has put together is incredible. I’m stepping into a program with incredible potential to succeed."
