    The Barbour International BIT2 Video

To further celebrate the collaboration between two British motorcycling icons, Barbour International and Triumph have been working with the best British custom bike builders, the Down and Out Café Racers, to customize the new Triumph Thruxton R for the first time before unveiling this special build at The Bike Shed.

These exclusive images show some of the special close up details of a build that celebrates the unique shared history between the two brands, completed on-site at the Down and Out Cafe Racers workshop in Yorkshire and then photographed at what’s known as the Barbour Beacon lighthouse in South Shields, where the brand has been based since 1894.

With a striking stance, stunning hand-beaten bodywork and unique Barbour International-inspired livery, the build combines classic, custom and contemporary styling. Immediately obvious are the blacked out rims wrapped in huge Firestone Champion tyres, giving the bike an imposing stance. This is complemented by a hand-crafted aluminium vintage inspired fairing, mounted low to give a more aggressive, contemporary flow to the front end.

Dropped handlebars result in a purposeful riding position, protected by a sleek cut-down bubble screen, with the Thruxton R’s riding modes instantly accessible via the custom microswitch switch gear. It’s this switchgear that contributes to achieving the clean, uncluttered look to the clip-on bars – further enhanced by the internal wiring.

Finishing details on the front end include the inclusion of press studs from the Barbour International x Triumph clothing line as bolt caps, and the off-centre endurance style headlamp. Finally, the clocks are moved lower on the bars to further contribute to the race-inspired feel.

Dominating the view from the saddle is the beautiful Thruxton tank, with lines further enhanced by the bare-metal finish. Replacing the standard steel tank strap is the trademark Barbour International jacket belt, repurposed to provide a stunning finishing touch. The saddle itself is another one-off detail – custom tailored incorporating Barbour International’s famous wax cotton material and stitching detail. To finish off, custom short megaphones amplify the growl of the Thruxton’s High Power 1200cc twin engine, whilst the classic lines are completed with a handcrafted aluminium seat cowl and custom LED rear light.
